Ilocos Sur especially Vigan is branded as the Heart of Ilocandia by the Philippine Historical Committee. It’s a province very rich in culture and heritage. Kannawidan means traditions and this province got to showcase all what she has.

       Ilocos sur has rich heritage and unique culture. However, there is a need to preserve. With this in mind, the provincial government of Ilocos Sur has conceived a festival that highlights these culture and traditions and attract local and foreign tourist as well. Dubbed the Kannawidan Ylocos Festival, it is also a commemoration of the anniversary of Ilocos Sur as province. Kannawidan has really lived up to its mission and vision: preserving and perpetuating the rich Iloco cultural, artistic, historical and intellectual heritage. Kannawidan gatherings have always been a venue for Ilocanos, relations and friends, sharing and exchanging thoughts, views and insights on how to preserve and perpetuate the beautiful customs and traditions.

      May this continue and we, Ilocanos must work as one in the spirit of unity, to love our own culture and arts. We must be done these things always, not only during festivals. Ilocos Sur is an amazing, wonderful, magnificent place! Be proud you're an Ilocano!
